Animated Object of the Day: Tyrannosaurus Rex Footprint

Scanning a dinosaur track.

Next week I begin teaching for the spring semester at Virgina Commonwealth University.  One of the courses I teach is Introduction to Archaeology and I stress from day one that archaeologists do NOT study dinosaurs.  I even show them where they can purchase a T-shirt with that stated quite emphatically.  Nonetheless, I LIKE dinosaurs and always have.  So, I jumped at the chance to scan a dinosaur footprint at the Virginia Museum of Natural History (VMNH), using our NextEngine Desktop 3D scanner. We’ll be editing that model in the coming weeks, so an animation of that is not yet available.  I did, however, use our Sense 3D scanner to scan a cast of a Tyranosaurus Rex footprint from VMNH.
