Animation of the Day: Sword Handguard from Ferry Farm

by Bernard K. Means, Director of the Virtual Curation Laboratory

742_guard_printToday’s animation is a sword handguard found at George Washington’s Ferry Farm. The handguard would have protected the hand of the person wielding the sword.  Archaeological conservation has protected this iron-alloy sword handguard fragment from further decay and makes it available for future study.
