Animation of the Day: Crucible from Jamestown

by Bernard K. Means, Director of the Virtual Curation Laboratory (VCL)

Today’s animation is a crucible recovered archaeologically by Jamestown Rediscovery. The crucible was made in Hesse, Germany, and designed to withstand high heat, and may have been intended to be used in gold processing.  Further details can be found here on another crucible also found at Jamestown.
