Animation of the Day: Cast Iron Hoe, a Possible Artifact of Enslavement from Jamestown

Today’s animation is a cast iron hoe that was recovered archaeologically at Jamestown and is held in trust within the collections at Jamestown Rediscovery. The late 17th context for this artifact suggests that it was likely used by an enslaved laborer of African descent.
