Today ‘s animation is a cast of a giant ground sloth (Megalonyx jeffersonii) claw from the collections of the  Virginia Museum of Natural History (VMNH) that was found in Saltville, Virginia. This element was scanned so that it could be mirrored and then printed, since the comparable element from the opposite side of the giant ground sloth was missing. VCL Intern Hannah Lickey scanned the cast and created the final digital model used in this animation.
