Today’s animation is a 17th century oyster shell recovered archaeologically by Jamestown Rediscovery.  Oysters were substantially larger prior to historic over exploitation.

Animation of the Day: Oyster Shell from Fredericksburg Kiln Site

Today’s animation is an oyster shell recovered during excavations of a kiln site located in downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia, by the Dovetail Cultural Resources Group.  The kiln site dates to the 19th century and was operated by Francis Bell.
