Today’s animation is a reproduction still created in 2003 that is still was reproduced in 2003.  According to Mount Vernon‘s Eleanor Breen: “the reproduction is based on a still in the Smithsonian’s collection dated 1787 and marked Bristol.”   It was scanned using a Sense 3D scanner on August 14, 2014.

Animation of the Day: ca. 1775 Kitchen Drain from Mount Vernon

Today’s animation is a ca. 1775 drain associated with a kitchen that was constructed in 1775 at  Mount Vernon. It was scanned using a Sense 3D scanner on August 14, 2014.

Animation of the Day: Colonoware Vessel from Mount Vernon

Today’s animation is a colonoware vessel with a scalloped edge and circular hole just below the scallop.  It was recovered archaeologically from the South Grove Midden at Mount Vernon. It was scanned at Mount Vernon on July 17, 2012.

Animation of the Day: Clay Male Figurine Fragment (Mended) from Mount Vernon

Today’s animation is a clay male figurine fragment from Mount Vernon’s midden, shown holding a hat in one hand and gloves inthe other.  It dates to the middle of the 18th century. Details about this figurine can be found at Mount Vernon’s midden project web site here.  This color animation was made by Lauren Volkers from a 3D scan of the object made on July 17, 2012.

Animation of the Day: Clay Female Figurine Fragment (Mended) from Mount Vernon

Today’s animation is a clay female figurine fragment from Mount Vernon’s midden.  It dates to the middle of the 18th century. Details about this figurine can be found at Mount Vernon’s midden project web site here.  This color animation was made by Allen Huber from a 3D scan of the object made on July 17, 2012. A printed version was recently made with a MakerBot Replicator.
